The project highlights language learning strategies and the development of language skills among students in the Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) program with diverse educational backgrounds. It specifically focuses on learners with limited prior schooling – an under-researched group. The project contributes both to the theoretical development within the field of second language acquisition and to the development of teaching practices adapted for heterogeneous student groups with diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, the project is methodologically innovative by combining quantitative and qualitative methods.
